Police declare war on Satanic graffiti at Grimsby Minster
YOUNGSTERS caught daubing religious graffiti on Grimsby Minster will be dealt with "robustly" by police, a leading inspector said today.
It is believed that a group has been set up on social networking site Facebook, where people have been writing about Satan and posting pictures of themselves next to the graffiti
Police are currently trying to identify one teenage boy who – in a photo posted on Facebook – is standing next to graffiti daubed on Grimsby Minster which reads "satan was here".
Police admit there has been an increase in the number of youths hanging around St James' Square, Grimsby, in recent weeks, and say they have received reports of anti-social behaviour and criminal damage.
Read more from residents, the police, and Canon Michael Hunter in today's Grimsby Telegraph.
Anyone with information should contact 0845 60 60 222 or speak to a member of the local neighbourhood team who will be in the area in the coming days.

“spot on clare....It's not religious crime....writing Satan on Grimsby Minster is not religious graffiti....but "Police declare War" for ...."standing next to graffiti" is horrifying discrimination”

“Kids have been hanging round St James square since I was a teenager....kids have also been responsible for graffiti for as many years as I can remember....some of it pretty good too...although this doesn't mean I agree with it, I personally would much prefer it to be done in a controlled group....a bit like what artlandish do I suppose.
I think the word that is being focused on here is the word RELIGIOUS....It's religious so everyone is up in arms....
for years kids have painted the word satan an devil on things...when I was a kid the swastika was all the rage,,,,it isn't kids who have changed in that sense, it's the way we read into things these days....what was once silly childish behavior is now considerd racist and a personal attack on certain religions and cultures.
I'm not saying it's acceptable for kids to graffiti over everything they see....far from it I think they should be punished, I'm just stating a fact....what was once considered daft bored kids is now a huge discrimination crime”
