Despite fears from the Met Office that Grimsby was to be covered in a blanket of heavy snow overnight, this morning has revealed that central areas have escaped with only a light dusting.

However, the icy weather has caused a number of traffic issues this morning, with one lane closing on the Humber Bridge due to snow.

It has also been reported that there have already been a number of minor incidents on the A15 and reports of snow drifting on the A46 north of Market Rasen.

Roadworks outside the new Tesco Express store, in the former Market Hotel, are reportedly causing delays too - which are said to be being made worse by the weather.

North East Lincolnshire Council's gritting teams are currently out treating the roads and ploughing the routes on higher ground.

The advice in the meantime is to drive more slowly and to the conditions.

Meanwhile, no West Lindsey District Council refuse crews will be leaving the Market Rasen depot today, as nowhere in the area is passable in the refuse lorry.

Temperatures are slightly warmer than they have been in recent days – around 0.5°C – which has resulted in surface water pooling on some road surfaces.

If you are aware of any traffic issues - and it is safe and legal to do so - please call the news room on 01472 372213.

“yeah only a sprinkling in Grimsby, whereas west of Laceby must be 10cm/4inch and it still falls (1530hrs). Although the good farmers have cleared the roads, even the minor ones!”
