IN the second of a series of features looking at how prominent anti-social behaviour is on the streets of North East Lincolnshire, reporter KATY FORRESTER spent a night on Grimsby's West Marsh estate with Cllr Steve Beasant, North East Lincolnshire Council's portfolio holder for community safety and public protection.

See today's Grimsby Telegraph for full details about her experience.

“Forgotten instead of moaning about the wybers and kids hanging around the streets why not join up with other residents and set community activities up for these kids the west marsh as well as other areas have volunteers working endless hours to try and make a difference to make their communities a better and safer place to live and i agree with the west marsh resident funding is available once you,ve got a group together”

“Not everyone on the West Marsh is on benefits you know. We both work long hours and have brought all our children up to be polite, considerate and to respect other peoples property. The Community centre does very good work to help keep some of the kids occupied and off the streets. But as on every estate there are still lots of kids who roam the streets causing trouble because they are "bored" and their parents don't give a toss what they are doing or where they are.
A lot of money and time has been put in by the residents of West Marsh to the Community centre - it's not all been from handouts. Maybe the Wybers residents could do the same and then they'd get grants.”

“Its the same old same old, plough all the money into the deprived areas where some of the parents can't take responisbility for their own offspring. I have seen lately that one of the lastest victims of Anti Social behaviour is the Wybers, kids around the shops causing problems, distinct lack of interest from parents and Police as usual. I suspect that the residents on there will have to stop paying their council tax and start claiming as many benefits as the system will let them before the Police and council will do anything.”
