Wetherspoons pubs not Cleethorpes Pier purchaser
RUMOURS that pub chain JDWetherspoon has bought the Pier are not true.
The company, which is “actively looking at Cleethorpes” as a destination, today confirmed it has not bought the iconic landmark.
Auctioneers Swindells revealed on Tuesday a deal has been agreed but will not disclose who has taken it on.
A spokesperson for JDWetherspoon said: “Cleethorpes is a town we are looking at, but we haven’t bought anywhere yet or identified anywhere specific,” after learning Cleethorpes nightclub Amishi, has also been put on the market.
