Wilson battles through the wind to take second place
BEVERLEY Wilson showed her strength in windy conditions to finish as the second female in the Ferriby Ten Mile Road Race.
The Cleethorpes Athletic Club runner clocked 66 minutes and 12 seconds to seal second spot behind ladies' race winner Helen Cross, of Pocklington Runners (64.14).

Wilson's time was also a new Vet-45 age category record for the blue and golds over the ten-mile distance.
The men's race went with the form book as the three pre-race favourites did the business at the front of the field.

Carl Ryde and Pumlani Bangani – both of whom are multiple winners of the event – along with Steve Bateson, were the class acts in the line-up.
Ryde quickly got into his stride and was not afraid to make it a solo run for home – despite very strong winds in the first five miles – which is also the uphill part of the course.
The Donacster AC man emerged as the overall winner in 53.38, ahead of second-placed Bateson of East Hull Harriers (54.56) and Bangani, of Salford Harriers, in third (55.48). Just nine men went under the hour on a day when the weather affected times.
