BIRTHDAY boy Bradley Wood is targeting another home three points against Luton Town tomorrow.

The highly-rated youngster turned 19 yesterday and is hoping to stay in the side at left-back after the Mariners' home triumph against Histon on Bank Holiday Monday.

It may not be his first-choice position, but the Leicester-born teenager is happy to play anywhere for Town boss Neil Woods if he can help the team.

And after being singled out for personal praise by the manager after Monday's match, he wants an even better display to mark his birthday week.

Wood said: "Hopefully I can celebrate my birthday with three points on Saturday.

"I'm moving into a new house and got a new car so everything is good if we get a win tomorrow.

"The Luton game is a big one, obviously.

"We need to get our heads down and focus on how we actually play our football.

"The fact we've bounced back from the Rushden defeat is a positive sign.

"But we need to start stringing results together one after another and grinding them out.

"I'm sure that will come with time.

"We haven't had a settled back four yet.

"But there is still no reason why we should be making mistakes.

"I hold my hand up that the Histon goal on Monday was my fault but I got on with it after that and that's what we need to do.

"We need to start building a solid back four that will play week-in, week-out.

"I don't mind where I'm playing at the back.

"It's up to the gaffer where he wants to put me.

"It's not my choice – all I want to do is play every game."

It's a late-kick off for the Mariners with tomorrow's game the first live game of the campaign on Premier Sports TV.

And with just one point between Town in eighth and the Hatters in fourth, it could be deemed an early six-pointer at the top.

But Wood says it's far too early to be judging which teams will be challenging.

He added: "People are reading into the fact we've lost two and think we won't do well this season.

"It's very early and there's no point looking at things yet.

"When you've played 10 or so games, then you start to see how things are shaping up.

"Luton is a big test, though, naturally and I expect that's why it's on TV.

"The late kick-off doesn't matter too much to us players.

"All we have to do is make sure we eat right and sleep right and we should be fine like a normal 3pm kick-off."
