IT was a case of grandma to the rescue as a bouncing baby boy was born on the kitchen floor of a young couple's home.

Super gran Cindy Oldham, 39, had a Mother's Day weekend to remember, when her daughter Kelly went into early labour on Saturday – leaving her to act as an impromptu midwife.

Kelly, 19, had been due to give birth on Mother's Day, but as Saturday evening came around, she began having back pains and asked her mum to pop round to her new home on Laceby Road.

However, as Kelly's fiance Lee waited outside for the ambulance to arrive, baby Dion decided he was coming – whether they were ready or not.

Cindy said: "Kelly was complaining of back pains and when I popped round her contractions had already started. This was at around 6.20pm and in twenty minutes the baby had been born, it was incredible."
