AFC Wimbledon manager Terry Brown has been named the Blue Square Bet Premier 'manager of the month' for August.

The Wombles sit on top of the table, three points ahead of fourth-placed Grimsby Town after another away win on Saturday at Kettering.

Last month, the Londoners went 300 minutes without conceding a goal at the start of the campaign before Rushden & Diamonds striker Rene Howe struck to inflict their first defeat on August 24.

Newport County are the only other side that has taken a point from them so far.

Meanwhile, Fleetwood forward Magno Vieira – who was on target again on Saturday – has been named the Blue Square Bet Premier August 'player of the month'.

Vieira bagged five goals in six matches during the first month of the season.

Elsewhere, former Grimsby Town boss Nicky Law, now at Alfreton, has been voted Blue Square Bet North 'manager of the month' after six straight wins at the beginning of the season.
