Words of praise for party leader Clegg
DESPITE predictions of a near wipeout at the next general election, Andrew De Freitas believes history will look more kindly on Nick Clegg's time as Liberal Democrat leader.
Andrew, who has stood several times as the party's parliamentary candidate for Great Grimsby, said: "I still think that people will realise once this Parliament comes to an end the role the Lib Dems have played in the Government, and that had it not been for the Lib Dems, we would have had much more right-wing policies from the Conservatives.

WARM WELCOME: Andrew De Freitas welcomes Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg to Grimsby.
"Nick Clegg has got a very difficult job, but so far he has done very well. The pupil premium, the higher tax threshold for people on low incomes – none of these things would have happened had the Lib Dems not been part of the Government."
The UK's role in Europe is something Andrew also passionately believes in, and he is becoming increasingly concerned by the rising tide of Euro-scepticism.

"I do have major concerns that people do not understand the benefits we have had from being part of the European Union.
"I would welcome a referendum because it would open a debate. If people think we can withdraw and become a Switzerland they are living in cloud-cuckoo-land.
"We do not have an empire anymore and we need to get used to that."
