Work to start on ambitious new seafood village after planners give green light
WORK on Grimsby's new £3-million Seafood Village will begin on Monday – after planning chiefs unanimously approved the application.
Fish processing bosses are now looking forward to attracting a new wave of young workers to the industry – with work on the 20 new processing units due to be completed as soon as April next year.

Grimsby Seafood Village joint managing directors Pete Dalton, left, and Gary Cadey celebrate gaining planning permission for the project.
It is hoped the Seafood Village will now cement the region's reputation as the undisputed capital of seafood production.
North East Lincolnshire Council's planning committee wasted no time in approving the application yesterday morning, despite residents' concerns that the 1.9 hectare development could cause unwelcome noise disturbance and an unsightly backdrop to their homes.
Councillors brushed aside fears from neighbours that future phases of the project may result in further expansion, saying the investment would safeguard 500 local jobs and provide a vital career path for unemployed young people in the area.

“Great news at last for the industry.I do not what a strugle it has been for Mr Dalton & Mr Cadey to get this project up and running and its a great shame the powers that are supposed to represent the Fish Merchants are not as passionate about it as these two are ,if it were left to them we the small men would be left behind . The people i am talking about will know if they read this maybe a little less time worrying about "working code of practice"another scheme set to satisfy the supermarket world .Again hats off to Pete & Gary well done you might just save some of our industy yet ,”
