PROMOTION rivals Wrexham are Grimsby Town's opponents in the FA Carlsberg Trophy final after the Red Dragons held off a valiant semi-final fight-back from Gainsborough Trinity.

The Blue Square Bet Premier leaders were cruising into the Wembley showdown when Danny Wright scored at The Northolme to give Wrexham a 4-1 aggregate lead.

But after Terry Hawkridge netted before the break, former Mariner Michael Leary – who also scored in Gainsborough's 2-0 victory over Barrow in the quarter-final stage – put Trinity 2-1 up on the day.

Wrexham's Joe Clarke cleared off the line amid seven, tense minutes of second-half stoppage time as Andy Morrell's men held on.
