Young Stars is as much about those who take part in sport once or twice a week as a means to keep fit, make friends, test themselves against others – or simply for pure enjoyment.

Sport teaches so many important principles which can help in every aspect of life, including honesty, teamwork, fair play, respect for yourself and others, adherence to rules and dealing with competition. Not forgetting one of the most important of all lessons, that you reap what you sow – that the hard work put in will eventually bring rewards.

In these turbulent times when our young people are often in the press for all the wrong reasons, it's easy to forget that in every corner of North East Lincolnshire there is a tale of sporting success.

Starting today and continuing every Tuesday, we will shine the spotlight on some of those stories.

If you would like to see a young person, team or event featured, get in touch by calling the sports desk on 01472 372245 or email sport@grimsbytelegraph.co.uk
