CLEETHORPES Academy is relinquishing its lease on the former Lindsey School Field on Taylor's Avenue to North East Lincolnshire Council.

As reported, community groups had been left angry they may have to quit their home of 14 years after the facility was taken over by the Tollbar Edge academy.

Chief executive David Hampson had said the needs of the academy's students had to come first – though he did not rule out hiring out the field.

However, after listening to the concerns of community teams, he has revealed the football pitches will be handed back to NELC.

But the news has been met with mixed reaction from the teams using the field.
