Young stars tipped to shine for Cleethorpes CC
THE young guns can fire Cleethorpes CC into the Yorkshire League's top four next season.
That's the view of first-team skipper James Osmond following a disappointing summer in which his side finished a lowly eighth in the table.
But a strong finish to the campaign – and the emergence of some talented youngsters – has given Osmond plenty of optimism ahead of next summer.
"Some of the young lads in the side showed a lot of improvement towards the end of the season," he said.

"People like John Mansfield, who got thrown in at the deep end behind the stumps, really came on and did a fantastic job in the last couple of games.
"Fred Lumby worked on his control over the year and that paid off in the final game at Scarborough where he took three wickets.
"They did really well in their first proper season of Yorkshire League cricket.
"They both know what they need to improve on for next season. They saw that there is quite a big gap in standard between the firsts and seconds, but know that now and appreciate what areas of their game they need to work on.
"Hopefully they'll do that and be regulars in the side next year."
And the next crop of talented Meggies youngsters are already banging on the first-team door, as Osmond explained.
"The good thing is that the youngsters are getting a chance to show what they've got in the teams further down, so that helps them develop," he said.
"If you look at Ian and David Mansfield, the season's they've had this year – considering the weather – have been superb.
"Ian got his chance in the last game and I'm sure he will get more chances next year.
"They're only 16 or 17 and they've performed really well at the levels they've been at.
"If we can be in the top four next season with a set of Cleethorpes lads it will be a real good effort.
"Some of the other teams spend a lot of money on their sides, so if we could finish fourth it would be a decent achievement."
