Youngsters battle through the mud in Year 5/6 Cross Country Championships
A SUPER turn-out of 360 children took part in the Year 5/6 Cross Country Championships.
The event, held in Weelsby Woods, was organised by the North East Lincolnshire School Sports Partnership.

The victorious schools were Great Coates (Year 5 girls winners), Springfield (Year 5 boys winners), Humb CofE (Year 6 girls winners) and Allerton (Year 6 boys winners).
The competition was supported by Grimsby Institute, Cleethorpes Athletic Club and the Sports Development team.

Nick Hanson, partnership development manager at the North East Lincolnshire School Sports Partnership, said: “It was great to see over 400 children braving the freezing weather and muddy conditions to battle their way around the cross country course.
“There was some fantastic performances with everyone giving their all.”
Dave Roberts, of Cleethorpes Athletic Club, said: “It is not surprising that this event is attracting more and more schools to participate each year. The organisation from the School Sports Partnership, and the course, are both excellent and it is great to see the enthusiastic approach by all the competitors.
“The local athletic clubs can only benefit from the interest created. It is a pleasure to be involved.”
Year 5 runners completed one lap of the course, while the year 6 competitors completed two circuits.
