THESE youngsters may be a bit green for their age – but it's all in an effort to save the environment!

Pupils at Oasis Academy Immingham have succeeded in getting their school to install paper, bottle and can recycling bins at their school.

They also showed the Grimsby Telegraph a clothes recycling bin, which makes sure nothing the pupils want to get rid of will be wasted.

Assistant principal Kavina Rothenburg said: "In September we set up student council groups – one of which was an environment group.

"They sorted out a few things to improve the outdoor spaces at the school, before focusing on climate change.

"They then asked what we were recycling as a school, and at the time we had no recycling bins.

"Then we worked out as a team where the bins would be needed, and then how they would be paid for."

The bins, which have special dividers in them for different items, are not cheap – the eight bins, for bottles cans and paper, cost the school £2,000.

The school council helped raise half of the money, and the school matched them for the rest.

Find out what the youngsters think of their achievements in Today's Grimsby Telegraph.

I wasn't disagreeing with you about re-cycling (read my previous comments again) - it was this sentence to which I was responding .. "but I understand about the effects of global warming." - And I 'dared' tell you, Hayley, because it is so patently obvious that you don't understand very much about 'global warming' at all.

It wasn't a criticism or an insult .. it wasn't even an opinion really - it was just an observation.

(You also wrote: "I believe that what Neil is saying or trying to say is correct"

If you have read even *some* of the unintelligible gobbledegook posted on this forum by Neil Jones, you would realise the ridiculousness of that statement),”

“"I am no "Bogg", "strange breed" or infact a "greenie" just because I recycle - but I understand about the effects of global warming."

No you don't. You simply believe what the Powers That Be want you to believe. "

Josephine White - do not tell me what I know and what I don't know. How dare you. I said "Using a recycling bin - will it help the environment or not? - either way, at least we are recycling and not sending needless waste to landfill sites - that's what this is about and I am all for it. Well done to the Oasis Academy"

I agree in what you say that some recycled items still go to the landfill site, but hell, for christ sake, every little helps when we keep something away from landfill - WHETHER IT'S FOR THE ENVIRONMENT OR NOT. You should perhaps try and curb your criticism of what others say on this forum Madam White.”

“And furthermore .. I'm getting mightily fed up of being accused of 'having too much time on my hands' 'sitting at my computer all day, of 'not having a job' and being told to 'get a life' - *just* because I make it my business to be informed. I'm almost being made to feel guilty about it! .. It's almost like .."who do you think you are knowing stuff I don't know!!"

For the record, I do work (albeit from home), I do look after my family and I do run a household. But that doesn't mean that I'm not acutely aware that my life is being ordered and controlled by powerful (and often malevolent) influences *beyond* my front door .. and I'll make sure I do my darndest to find out who is bossing me about - and why they believe they have a God-given right to run my life. . I *need* to know because frankly I don't damn-well like it.

Tom Paine said "Reason obeys itself; and ignorance submits to whatever is dictated to it".

What's *your* excuse for being ignorant?”

No you don't. You simply believe what the Powers That Be want you to believe.

And they want you to believe it because how else will you willingly hand over more and more and more of your hard earned money?

I'm also a keen re-cycler .. I do so because it makes sense and because it is good for the environment.

I'm also prepared to accept that the planet is warming. What I DON'T accept is that mankind is responsible.

And if you did just a *little* bit of independent research on it yourself, you'd also begin to have doubts. The Science simply doesn't add up, Hayley.

(incidentally, all that careful re-cycling we both do so lovingly is a complete waste of time because much of it *still* goes to landfill. And much of the rest is mounting up in warehouses (paid for by the Council taxpayer) because due to the world recession China can't afford to buy it from us anymore!

It's all one unholy farce I'm afraid.”

“Chris, Grimsby - With respect, ; Josephine states "Boggs" "Strange breed" "Greenie" - name calling. Ok, I apologise in missing the fact that others are also name calling; however I believe that what Neil is saying or trying to say is correct - I am no "Bogg", "strange breed" or infact a "greenie" just because I recycle - but I understand about the effects of global warming. Using a recycling bin - will it help the environment or not - either way, at least we are recycling and not sending needless waste to landfill sites - that's what this is about and I am all for it. Hayley.. With respect, it's Neil doing the name calling not Josephine.”

“I llike to catch up on the GT occasionally and have to say that this forum was rather interesting! Josephine White, perhaps you are only aware of anything and everything happening in your surroundings and the world because you have far too much time on your hands. The rest of us seem to be oblivious to our surroundings (according to you) - perhaps that's because we are out working, looking after family and running a home. You should take up a hobby - oops, sorry, looks like you have one. I applaud the Oasis Academy for what they have achieved - it was an excellent school when I attended (Immingham Comp) and continues to be so. Josephine White - please stop insulting people - everyone is entitled to an opinion - even you!”

“I do apologise most profusely. Well done everyone on your splendid effort. I have soo hard to get the bank I worked for to recycle. They have now done it for many years. The solicitors? Similar. Joinery firm? Easy. They burn their own waste. The heat created is used for hot water, central heating etc in the persons very local homes that they own.”
