Six babies delivered on Mother's Day at Grimsby hospital
ALL the mums agree – these little bundles of joy were the best Mother's Day presents they could have hoped for.
Yesterday, six babies were delivered at Grimsby's Diana, Princess Of Wales Hospital – with two more babies that nurses on the ward said may, or may not, be born before midnight.
Among the proud mums was Sarah Goffin, 31, of Oxford Street, Cleethorpes, who gave birth to her first child – a girl weighing 6lb 11oz – at 10.35am, with husband Jez at her side.
The happy couple, who are both photography lecturers at Grimsby Institute, are still deciding whether to call her Millie-Florence or Florence-Millie, after they got engaged in the picturesque Italian city in 2010.
Sarah said: "It was very emotional for both of us and we both had a bit of a cry – she is absolutely beautiful, although I'm a bit biased.
"Nothing can prepare you for that feeling when you see your first child – it is a totally life-changing moment."
Jez, 39, added: "Nothing can prepare you for the feeling you get when you first look into your daughter's eyes – everything changes instantly."
Kelly Wolfe, 19, of Sherwood Road, Grimsby, also gave birth to her first child, Terence-James Leech, who was born at 3.49pm, weighing 8lb and 6oz.
He was named after fiance James Leech's grandfather and was 12 days overdue when he finally arrived.
Very tired new mum Kelly said: "This is the best Mother's Day present ever."
And James, 22, said: "We both couldn't be happier right now."
Charlotte Brumby had tiny baby William, weighing just 3lb and 13oz, at 3pm on what was her 30th birthday.
Doctors decided William needed to be born seven weeks early as Charlotte had a problem with her intestine, which meant he couldn't feed. He was taken to the special care unit after delivery.
"It hasn't really sunk in yet because I haven't got to spend much time with him, but this is the best birthday and Mother's Day present I can imagine," Charlotte said.
Lisa Bagshaw, of Keelby, who was 31 on Saturday, gave birth to Carmen-Daisy Wild at 12.59pm, weighing 6lb.
She was named Carmen after 28-year-old partner Chris Wild's late nan, and Daisy after Lisa's granny, who has also passed away.
Lisa said: "It's hard to describe but knowing I am a mummy is a great feeling – I definitely feel a bit different to how I felt yesterday.
"This is the most amazing Mother's Day treat."
Emma Leeman, 22, of David Street, gave birth to a baby girl at 1.57pm, weighing 7lb and 12oz.
She and partner Jamie Bevers are deciding between Poppy and Amelia for their daughter.
Emma, who already has a son, said: "I'm so glad I've got a son and a daughter – I think that's enough for me for now."
