Editor's Opinion: This is bloomin' good news!
GOLD, gold and more gold!
What a great In Bloom achievement it is for all our volunteers who have worked so extremely hard to ensure we have a golden coast to be truly proud of.
Many will remember that this area's desire to "bloom" began in Cleethorpes around a decade ago when a small band of dedicated volunteers got the money together to pay for the resort's entry into the regional In Bloom contest.
The seed was sown for what was to come, and it has been remarkable.

Cleethorpes as a bloom winner now seems unstoppable with accolade after accolade coming its way.
And then it was the turn of Grimsby, first, and then Immingham.
These three groups have supported each other all along the way – with the experts over in Cleethorpes giving some vital advice to colleagues in the other towns – true working together.
Now we have gold all the way, putting Caistor in there too. The good work has spread, and the community has been taken along with it.
This area is not without its issues, we know that.
But there are many, many people who are working extremely hard to ensure we all have a more improved future.
And there is no doubt that the environment and our surroundings are key to any improvement.

“Well done to Caistor in Bloom...Gold award...category winners.....winners of the title Best large village in the East Midlands 2012 and the highest points received in the whole competition for a town village or city of any size throughout Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Rutland.......Caistor have also been asked to represent the region in the National Britain in Bloom finals next year. 49 points out of 50 for community participation too...what a result.

Could I just correct the erroneous reporting of the editor above please? No "experts over in Cleethorpes" have ever been to Caistor to give "vital advice". For the editor's information, Castor in Bloom won gold last year as well.”
