Brave Eddie's big Christmas celebration as his attacker is found guilty
"IT'S the best Christmas gift I could have been given."
These are the words of 72-year-old Eddie Hindle – whose attacker Kristian Whyte has been found guilty of teaming up with his friend Jamie Ford to rob the pensioner.
As reported, Mr Hindle – who is being treated for lung cancer – was left with broken wrists and severe bruising to his face and ribs, following the sickening attack on July 11.
Mr Hindle had been travelling home on his mobility scooter after watching the World Cup final when he was beaten outside his home in Weelsby Street, Grimsby – all for his watch and bracelets.
The pensioner, along with neighbours, identified Whyte, as he was seen acting suspiciously prior to the incident.
However, while Ford, 31, admitted his part in the robbery, kick-boxer Whyte, 27, of Castle Street denied being involved.
At his trial it took the jury just 40 minutes to deliver a guilty verdict. Both will be sentenced on January 21.
