THE owners of this new-look freehouse are hoping their new-style venue will lead the way for pubs of the future.

Partners Jonathan Rowbotham and Lynda Dixon, of Cleethorpes, spent five months converting a former shopping parade in Holton-le-Clay into The Lounge Café and Bar.

And five months on from the official opening, the Pinfold Lane building's past as a hairdressers, Indian takeaway and car showroom are long forgotten.

The modern venue is now popular with a whole host of customers, from those wishing to enjoy a drink while watching the match, to people who fancy grabbing a bite to eat at lunchtime – or even those with something to celebrate.

Jonathan, 46, said: "This is a fun- loving bar which has a friendly atmosphere.

"There are 6,000 people in this village and there is nothing else like this in the area.

"Because we are a freehouse the drinks are much cheaper, such as £1.99 for a pint of Carling or Worthington.

"We have Sky multi-screen, which means we can have multiple matches on at the same time.

"We have wi-fi, too – so we have something suitable for everyone."

The fully-licensed café bar is open five days a week, closed on a Monday and Tuesday, and even serves breakfasts – including bacon buns for £1.70.

At lunchtime you can tuck into sandwiches or panini and by night it's a thriving setting, ideal for a night out with family and friends.

Also on offer is home-cooked food such as lasagna and chips, as well as Spanish-style meatballs.

And it is also ideal if you have a family celebration coming up, as free function room hire can include a free disco if 40 or more people also have a buffet at £3.50 a head.

Lynda, 46, who is also the venue's chef, said: "It is packed when we have the bands on here and we have many more to come.

"The atmosphere is great and we have had some excellent remarks about our food and ale.

"I think it is important to have home cooked food because people enjoy it. On New Year's Eve we made chilli and garlic bread, everyone loved it.

"We clean the ale lines once a week, which is why drinks are such good quality."
