“"Media always report of excess packaging within the food industry who themselves try their hardest to ensure that the material can be recycled" ?? Really? The packaging on food seems no different now to when there was a big fuss in the media 2 or 3 years ago. This cardboard business is just another example of the fact that recycling is a con on the public. When it comes down to it, the will simply isn't there.”

“Indeed my bin is exactly the same, full of card that used to be recycled. Plastic is the other main component. NELC are not interested in recycling at all. They are just playing a game at making it look like they care. What I have noticed is that there is an increase incidents of flytipping of bundles of card.....Guess who has to foot the bill for it to be cleared up... Yes Us as Tax payers. NELC have to send a team out to clean it up.... Can they not see if they took it in the first place it would eventually cost them less...”

“My brown bin is still full of cardboard as it was NOT COLLECTED (again) on Thursday 31st May (which was my normal recycling collection day). This was the last day for cardboard to be accepted in the brown bin but as it was not emptied I am now left with a bin full of cardboard. I have emailed the council regarding this and have not had a satisfactory answer from the correct department as yet. I WILL NOT take the cardboard out the brown bin myself and transfer it to the green bin.”

“Maybe the point has been missed here? The brown bin is intended for the gamut of RECYCLABLE MATERIALS FOR COMPOST, not SOLELY 'cardboard'. Can't say personally that I've ever had a full bin for collection, EVER, of either colour -- but then, I buy veg with dirt on, not plastic upon plastic wrappings and boxes AND LEAVE THE GROSS WRAPPING WITH THE RETAILERS before I depart. Cardboard? Tear it into strips and mingle it with your garden compost! No garden? Lived far over 20 yrs in a 1st-floor flat; one learns to dismember, tear, compact and tamp. It's beginning to look as if the motto of Grimland should be "IDLENESS is next to Godliness" !-)”
