“Why bother to ask questions of the NELC on this forum? If you truly want the answers why not ask the Council directly? Have you?

If you still have concerns about the probity of the procurement process then surf the net, find out what governance body oversees these matters in the UK and refer the issue to them.

It is reasonable to expect people to do the right thing including those who raise concerns.

I wonder about the legitimacy of this posting and others like it. Are these real issues or is it just about having a whinge with no genuine interest is resolving issues? Most people would deal with these types of concerns more appropriately and responsibly.”

I take it you've never had to deal with NELC?”

“Here in Australia there are three tiers of government. Statutory responsibility for local government lies with the relevant State/Territory government. In Victoria, a significant issue with any of the 79 local governments (councils) can be escalated to the Minister for Local Government who administers the Local Government Act. Like I said, I have no idea who performs the equivalent role in the UK, that would require a small degree of research by any genuine party interested in the proper management of what seems to be a significant allegation. Alternatively, one option seems to be to complain on a local public forum. I know which I would expect to get the best follow up of any genuine issue. It seems strange that some expect others (in this case the NELC) to do the right thing but seemingly can't be bothered to do likewise.”

“I should think in the majority of cases the proper channels are gone through. However, after it's discovered they've been mislead, lied to or fobbed-off, for example, alerting others to their underhand ways seems the logical next step to take.”
