“Totally agree. As far as I can see they have both been "part of the problem" that lead to the introduction of this new role. Neither has the independent strength of character to make a success of the initiative.”

Don't be daft Arthur, ordinary, tax payers like us don't get consulted whenever a fresh trough is opened and snouts are lining up to thrust into it.
Of course, they'll steadfastly maintain that they're only applying for the position for "our benefit".
That being the case, let them prove it by doing the job for free, as a public service.” -

Oh of course not .. silly me.
It's just that I could have sworn that the Police are constitutionally obliged to be separate from, and above and beyond, 'politics'.
How's this going to work if we have a bumbling old lefty actually in charge of our local the Police Force?” -

I would implore all local CLP members to put aside their preconceived notions and loyalties and, to consider the following judgements on John Prescott’s performance and leadership in his last big Government job.
In 2006/7, MORI were tasked to look at the image and perceptions of ODPM.
Some of the responses from Whitehall mandarins were brutal in that there was a lack of clearly articulated vision and leadership, internal cohesion and understanding of what ODPM does!
Hard to imagine, but even more damaging comments were to come from ODPM’s external stakeholders. “Pantomime horse. Lacking leadership. Rambling. Disorganised.
Doesn’t push its weight”!

For the sake of Humberside communities, its Police Service and the party’s wider interests, future prospects and standing.
Rather than blindly toeing any self serving, "electability" party line. I respectfully ask all Labour party members to diligently, ethically and morally compare and assess the track records and the prospects for both local Labour candidates for PCC, John Prescott and Keith Hunter.
And for the local Labour party to respectfully and honourably give us the best, fit and proper candidate to ultimately fulfil the role Humberside PCC with some credible and reputable success.”
