BLOSSOM Way and Ray Edmonds Vets are the early front-runners in the Grimsby & District Billiards League after victories on the road.

The Vets saw off a depleted Westlands outfit 2-1. Tony Eglin (R40) put the visitors in from with a 200-112 win against Stan Moore. Nige Emmerson (Owe145) squared things up taking the second frame 200-111, beating Daz Potter (Owe50) with breaks of 53 and 37 in the process. Blake Munton (R70) won the decisive frame default.

Blossom Way had to come from behind at Birds Eye B. Ivan Harvey (Owe90) took the opener from Mick Hill (R45), 200-163. Albert Potterton (R10) made a 37 during his 200-187 win against Simon Timpson (R100). And John Lough (Owe5) got the winner, beating Jim Litchfield (R100) 200-182.

Clee Bowls were the only home winners of the week, beating Birds Eye A 2-1. Harry Putland (Owe15) got the hosts off the match when he beat John Mitchell (R70) 200-176. Ray Charlton (Owe30), made it 2-0, helped by a 35 break, as he beat John Tomlinson 200-181. Gordon Coulling (R35) saved the whitewash for Birds Eye by beating Ivan Bramhill (Owe35) 200-115.
