Welcome to Havelock Academy - Broadening Horizons, developing confidence and caring member of the community who learn to take responsibility for themselves as individuals and for the world. Havelock Academy achieved International Baccalaureate “World School’’ status for all it’s programmes, ages 11 – 19, in 2010.
About Havelock Academy
Havelock Academy was established in 2007 to serve the community of the East Marsh and Heneage by broadening horizons for children. Havelock thus seeks to educate children in a spirit of broad enquiry and by harnessing their potential to realise their aspirations. Havelock Academy has strong links with local industry - key to the ongoing development of each student. Havelock's focus is on the development of the whole child through the nurturing of inter-cultural awareness and the encouragement of excellent communication skills. The Havelock community is based on strong relationships and leadership, developed through the House pastoral system. Eight Houses compete and co-operate with each other in all areas of Academy life. Good manners, being smart and thinking about others are all central to the Academy's code of conduct which was devised in consultation with the students of each House.
The values implicit in the IB (International Baccalaureate) Learner Profile characterise Havelock's approach to study which is rigorous and academic, providing all its students and staff with the reflective capacity to develop a love of learning for life.
Havelock Academy Sixth Form
Sixth Form students at Havelock have a completely new experience of Sixth Form life, and you will take responsibility for the leadership of a House and, with a small group of peers, will be uniquely involved in the planning and development of the Academy's life over the two years of Sixth Form life. Our aim is to ensure that you have every support and an individually framed strategy, agreed with you, to take you to the next stage of your career. You can expect as a leader of this changing community to influence and shape its life.
Each Sixth Form student is allocated a Personal House Tutor who is available to discuss academic and other issues with you, and to help guide you in your future choices. The tutor, together with the Guidance Team, will also monitor your progress throughout the Sixth Form and act as a channel of communication between the Academy and your parents.
