Interest expressed in Cleethorpes' Wonderland site
THERE is one week to go until Cleethorpes’ Wonderland Market goes under the hammer.
The 59,000 sq ft building taking up three acres of land goes to auction at Leeds United’s Elland Road stadium next Thursday.
Managed by chartered surveyors Eddisons, bidding gets underway at 12.30pm and there is a guide price of £425,000 – half the amount it was first advertised for sale at in April 2011.
Tony Webber, head of property at Eddisons’ Leeds office, confirmed there are five potential bidders. He said: “There has been some interest from similar businesses to the current owners. Although it is hard to say before the auction, if it sells, it is quite likely the use will stay the same, rather than being bought by some developer and knocked down for housing.”

There was speculation it would be taken on by a local entrepreneur but so far the people showing interest have been from outside the area.
