VOTE: Club hangs on to licence despite 'horrendous noise' emptying resort
A CLEETHORPES club has promised there will be no repeat of the excessive noise which "emptied" the resort during the May Bank Holiday.
The Establishment was yesterday given a "strong warning" by North East Lincolnshire Council's Licensing Sub Committee over the disturbance caused by an outdoor music event which took place on May 30.

COMPLAINTS: Bosses at The Establishment in Cleethorpes were given a stern warning by the areaâs licensing sub-committee.
A hearing at Grimsby Town Hall was told how other businesses along the promenade were forced to close early after customers were driven away by the "horrendous noise" coming from loud speakers at the Swish event.
However, the Sea Road venue kept its license to play recorded music outdoors after satisfying the sub committee that the incident was a "one-off".
Read a full report of the hearing in today's Grimsby Telegraph.

“Theres absolutely Nothing wrong with the management, it was a one off event around 3 Months ago, since that Date 'Swish' Has been moved elsewhere.. whats the deal?
in the summer theres always loud noise coming from most places, Rock, House, Hip Hop, Hardcore etc..
At the end of the day, the licensing committee dont take no crap, if there was really a problem dont you think the license would be taken?
Just because the music different to Girls allowed and boyzone doesn't mean the club should be shut down and license taken.”

“Neildog,
So what you are saying is the public have to suffer drunks and excessive noise just so the managers can make a living wage. I really can¿t see that that¿s a justification for the rest of the public having to suffer either.”

“Pub and bar managers are often stuck with ridiculous monthly targets from the breweries that supply them so sometimes are forced to keep serving customers they would otherwise eject for the sake of financial pressure. The smoking ban had disastrous effects on publicans profits. I sing in a local band. We have always been considerate with our noise levels and consult closely with landlords on this issue but some other bands, and certain DJ's do not. The landlord then has to decide whether to intercede with the potential of upsetting a pub full of paying customers so I think it is unfair to blame poor management for noise pollution when it is often a 3rd party causing it and economic pressure can sometimes leave them powerless to do anything about it.”
