ORGANISERS behind Cleethorpes' Lincolnshire Food Festival hope fundraisers will have flipping good fun at a pancake race.

To celebrate the event coming back to the resort, they are holding a pancake race at 1pm, on Shrove Tuesday, February 12, along the seafront, at King's Parade.

All participants need to bring is a frying pan and a smile. Fancy dress is optional, and pancakes will be provided by Crepe Lucette. All donations will go to St Andrew's Hospice.

Charity fundraiser Ron Day, 80, said: "It is a brilliant idea. We want to see as many people as possible take part. The more who do, the more money will be raised.

"We need all the support we can get. It costs close to £3 million a year to run the hospice and we get very little from the Government and must rely on public donations and charity."

The Food Festival will take place at Meridian Park, on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22.

Making its second appearance in the resort, the festival will bring an eclectic mix of cuisine and culture to the resort and organisers hope it will bring thousands to town.

The theme is Around The World And Home Again, and aims to showcase local produce as well as bringing in different foods and cultures from around the world.

There will be cookery demonstrations by celebrity chefs on both days of the festival, along with music influences from around the world.

Lincolnshire Food Festival committee member Steve Rusling said: "The pancake race remains a fairly common festive tradition in the UK, but not locally.

"We wanted to bring the tradition back to North East Lincolnshire, while raising money for charity. We hope to make this an annual tradition."

“Anyone got a good pancacke recipe? I stick to flower, egg, milk, sugar/lemon.”
