STRIKE up the band and put on your dancing shoes for an evening of 1940s dancing.

The Rotary Club of Grimsby Havelok will be putting on the event to raise money for the Big Red Heart Appeal, on Saturday, March 3.

John Taylor, of JJ's East Coast Swing Dance Society, said: "We have been doing swing jive for six years and we love it.

"We have members come to us from Louth, Hull and Scunthorpe. We do a lot of charity events and want to get people involved.

"Anyone can come on the night and give it a go and we are always on the look out for new people and couples.

"There is a whole range of abilities here from beginners to some of the best dancers in the country.

"We all enjoy dancing and the members of the club are all lovely people."

JJ's meets every first and third Thursday of the month at Corpus Christi Church Hall, in Grimsby Road, Cleethorpes, at 8pm.

President Wayne Turner, from the Rotary Club of Grimsby Havelok, added: "We are putting on the night to raise money for the Big Red Heart Appeal because it is important the money goes locally.

"The night will have everything, including DJ Johnny Fox, playing a variety of 1940s classics.

"We want people to come along and dress up and have a good go. You don't have to dance it is good entertainment to watch also.

"But it is a good fun and easy to pick up. There will be a bar on the night and people are more than welcome to bring a picnic with them.

"We just want everyone to have a great night out and raise money for a good cause.

"We have several events planned this year to raise money for the charity and we hope people come along and get involved."

The event starts at 7.30pm at Cleethorpes Memorial Hall and tickets are £7 per person. For booking and more information, call Wayne Turner on 07709 074947.
