The Fallen Heroes pictured below represent the tragic human cost of the British Forces campaign in Afghanistan since October 2001 and the conflict in Iraq since March 2003.
Servicemen from Grimsby who have given their lives in active service in Afghanistan include Lance Corporal Mathew Ford, who died in 2007, and Trooper Robert Pearson, who was only 22 when he died in April 2008.
Among the soldiers killed in Iraq are Captain David Jones, who died in August, 2003, aged 29. Flight Lieutenant Andrew Smith, aged 25, died in January, 2005 and Trooper Kristen Turton died in April 2007.
