The Fallen Heroes pictured below represent the tragic human cost of the British Forces campaign in Afghanistan since October 2001 and the conflict in Iraq since March 2003.

Servicemen from the Grimsby area who have given their lives in active service in Afghanistan include Lance Corporal Mathew Ford, who died in January 2007, Trooper Robert Pearson, who was only 22 when he died in April 2008, Cpl Graeme Stiff, who died in March 2009 aged 24, and Sgt Matthew Telford and Guardsman Jimmy Major, who died in November 2009.

Among the soldiers killed in Iraq are Captain David Jones, who died in August 2003, aged 29, Flight Lieutenant Andrew Smith, aged 25, who died in January 2005 and Trooper Kristen Turton, who died in April 2007.
