Keep historical artefacts together
HAVING stated that the old Ice Factory is not fit for anything other than demolition, it is also very apparent that there is, and quite rightly so, a public concern for the historical artefacts of Grimsby, many of which were gifted to the people of the borough.
These surely must be gathered together and displayed on one site and not left squirrelled away collecting dust.
The obvious place for this must be as an add-on to the Heritage Centre and although as a standalone project this may not be commercially viable, if other national associations and societies were invited to become part of a museum cluster, thus inviting their own sponsorship and not local council funds, the mathematics start to add up.
We have to move away from this rather insular approach that everyone wants to know only about Grimsby, if the current logic was applied to national museums they would surely fail as a result.
