SHUTTLE star Alex Langley is adamant she will learn from a second successive semi-final exit at the English National Championships.

Badminton ace Langley, a former Humberston School pupil, was beaten in the last four of the women's doubles alongside Jennifer Wallwork, by eventual winners Gabby White and Lauren Smith.

Having also been knocked out in the quarter-finals of her mixed doubles campaign alongside Matthew Nottingham, Langley, pictured, was left disappointed with her weekend in Manchester.

But she has vowed to look forward and is determined to get back on the training courts and continue to improve her game.

"I've been in the semi-finals now for two years running and I really wanted to push it forward and I thought this was the year to do it," said the 21-year-old.

"I just need to go away now and keep looking forward.

"You want to be the best in England.

"Everyone knows each other's games inside out now and you can get on top of each other.

"No-one wants to lose – we wouldn't be athletes otherwise.

"You have to have talent to get this far but you wouldn't be anything if you didn't work hard.

"Every time I'm training I have always got that little bit in my mind saying can I work harder, and if I can obviously I will push myself.

"When you lose it's disappointing because you want to win but you can take a lot away from it. If you go away and you think about why you lost then you would be a fool if you did it again."
