"I was engaged to another man at the time, but it was love at first sight for us both.

"After a couple of months, I ended my previous relationship and we finally got together.

"We were together for a while and decided to get married.

"Dennis didn't get down on one knee or anything. We went for a meal at a Chinese restaurant in Freeman Street, Grimsby, and he just put a ring on the table and that was it.

"It was a natural progression really. We have had some ups and downs in our relationship, but choosing to marry Dennis was the best decision of my life.

"The best thing to do in a relationship is if you have anything to say get it out and then afterwards clear the air.

"My husband is a very hard-working man and would do anything for us and I love him very much."

The pair have five children and two great grandchildren, and looking after each other is the most important things to them.

Mr Young, 77, said: "In 2007 I was diagnosed with bowel cancer which was very hard on us at the time.

"My wife looked after me and thankfully I recovered.

"We have had a very long and happy relationship over the years.

"I thought my wife was gorgeous when I first saw her and I still think that today.

"I am looking forward to many more years together."
