THESE generous ladies have been named the latest Mum And Daughter Of The Year finalists after selflessly caring for a poorly relative. Della Tuffnell, 45, of Brereton Avenue, Cleethorpes, nominated her mum, Judy Kirham, and daughter, Siobhan Tuffnell, for the awards as a way to publicly thank them for everything they do to help her.

As reported, every month we select one mum and one daughter who deserve some public recognition for everything they do.

The monthly winners will then be considered for the overall Mum And Daughter Of The Year titles at the beginning of next year.

Della, who suffers from a rare neurological condition called Syringomyelia, says she doesn't know how she would cope without the help of Judy and Siobhan.

She explained: "From being an active woman who worked full time, enjoyed Zumba classes and respite fostered at least ten children with disabilities, I have become disabled and unable to do most day-to-day things.

"My mum visits me every week to do different jobs and she call me on a daily basis to see if I'm OK.

"My daughter calls me every day and gets me out and about in my wheelchair. They both mean the world to me."

Retired factory worker and great grandmother Judy Kirkham, 73, of Colin Avenue, Grimsby, said: "I can't believe it! It's really lovely of her to nominate us.

"I go round every week to help Della and do her ironing because she struggles to do it herself. You do what you can to help your children and I just try to do little things to make her life a bit better."

Personal carer Siobhan, 22, of Fairmont Road, is expecting her first child.

She said: "I just do what any daughter would.

"I don't want Mum to be stuck staring at the same four walls all day, so I take her out when ever I can.

"I'm so surprised she's nominated us for this awards. She's like my best friend and I'd do anything for her."

Judy and Siobhan will be treated to a beautiful bouquet each from our new sponsor – Lilies Florist, in St Peter's Avenue, Cleethorpes.
