Anger over access to loved ones' graves

The bollards were put in by North East Lincolnshire Council to prevent cars from driving over the grass and graves.
The bollards can be removed on request, but Alan Lancaster (52), of Burwell Drive, is angry that this service is not available on weekends.
He said: "I like to go when it takes my fancy, when I'm feeling down, but now I can't.
"I'm fuming. It's stopping me going up there. I have cerebal palsy and in winter I need a wheelchair."
A spokesperson for North East Lincolnshire Council said: "The bollards were put in place as people had been driving into the cemetery, and in some cases, driving on the graves.
"In the last two winters the area flooded badly and cars were getting stuck in the grass.
"The cemetery rules do state no cars without permission. However, we have allowed access in recent years and we have built a new car park close to the new areas to reduce any walking."
Another regular visitor Pamela Shaw (62), of Park Street, Cleethorpes, said the bollards are making the situation worse, because they are forcing drivers on to the narrower slip roads, where they need to perform a three-point turn on the grass in order to turn around.
Mrs Shaw said the boundaries between the road and the grass should have been blocked, to prevent damage to the grass while still allowing access to the cemetery for cars.
But a spokesperson for NELC said that this would limit access for larger vehicles which are needed for maintenance and grave-digging.
To arrange for the bollards to be removed contact Grimsby Cemetery on (01472) 324869.
