Driver dies in horror A18 smash
The contractor – named by colleagues at ConocoPhillips as Tim Johnson, who worked in Theddlethorpe for Rigblast Energy Services Ltd – died in a collision on the A18 near Barnoldy-le-Beck yesterday.
As reported on www.thisisgrimsby.co.uk throughout yesterday, the collision between his red Peugeot 306 and a white Peugeot 306 occurred at 6.30am.
The road was closed for several hours while police investigated the scene.
The police have not officially released a name for the deceased but refinery staff were officially told by their manager yesterday.
A colleague said: "He was a really top bloke."

Tributes have also been paid to a 24-year-old mum and her young daughter who both died in a crash in Lincolnshire.
Jodi Thornton, a Grimsby Institute student who worked in Louth, and three-year-old Ella Harman died last week when the car they were passengers in crashed on the B1191 between Martin and Kirkstead Bridge.
Jodi's mum, who lives in Saltfleet, described them as "absolutely beautiful."
