Health bosses rapped for no planning permission

Tuesday, December 29, 2009, 06:30

HEALTH chiefs were rapped for not getting planning permission for an office complex for health workers.

Members of North East Lincolnshire Council's Planning Committee heard the area's Care Trust Plus (CTP) went ahead with a single-storey office building in Barmouth Drive, Grimsby, as a base for 75 health staff and 36 outreach workers serving the Willows estate.

Principal planning officer Phil Wallis said planning permission for the prefabricated units was approved under delegated powers in May this year.

But three months into the construction, officers halted work because it did not comply with approved plans.

The CTP chiefs were advised the work did not have planning permission and would be continued "at their own risk."

Planning Committee councillors assessed the application and criticised the way health bosses had gone ahead with construction without planning permission.
