New Waltham's tribute to our fallen heroes

That is the message engraved on a new war memorial in New Waltham, erected after thugs vandalised an older one.
A memorial service was held on the village green outside St Matthew’s Church on Peaks Lane yesterday to commemorate war heroes.
Nearly 100 people attended the service led by Rev Ian Canon Shelton, including representatives of the British Legion, the RAF and the Air Training Corps.
The service included wreath laying, hymns and a prayer especially written by the Bishop of Lincoln.
Grahame Williams, chairman of the parish council, has been involved in the pursuit of a new memorial since he joined the parish council 18 months ago.
He was left moved by the service.
He said: "It was an extremely moving service. The turnout was better than I could have dreamt of – it was absolutely superb.
"The importance of this cannot be underestimated because there are so many people who have fallen for us and it does bring it home."
