Pay out over noise, but not happy

A MANBY resident – awarded £22,500 in compensation for putting up with noisy refuse lorries thundering past his home – has said he is still not happy.

As reported, William Bontoft (71), Of Carlton Road and neighbouts Victor Lamb and Sonia Taylor, took East Lindsey District Council to the High Court, claiming the trucks had made their lives unbearable.

The aim of their case – which came to an end yesterday – was persuade Judge John Leighton-Williams QC to force the council to relocate their Manby Park waste depot or find an alternative route for the trucks, and pay out compensation to the residents.
