Plans to improve safety at junction
Proposals have been put forward to replace the mini-roundabout at the busy junction of Cambridge Road and Littlecoates Road.
A traffic order will be published in the Grimsby Telegraph to invite residents and motorists to have their say on the plans.
A pedestrian crossing on Littlecoates Road will also be upgraded to improve safety and plans have been put forward to create a further lane of traffic, using a strip of land from the amenity area on the west side of the roundabout.
Stuart Greaves, North East Lincolnshire Council's network manager, said there was no room to improve the roundabout because of its limited capacity.
"It is impossible to replace," he said.
Coun Martin Vickers added: "Taking some of the land off the green area would create an extra lane for traffic travelling towards Toothill. There are long tailbacks along Littlecoates Road all the way to Bradley crossroads at peak times."
He recommended the proposal should be included in the Local Transport Plan to bid for Government funding, which will be put forward later this year, as reported.
