Sex assault claim sparked club attack
He "saw red" and "lost it" after the woman became "hysterical" about being groped in the club, Grimsby magistrates heard.
Wilkins, 21, of Tetney Lock Road, Tetney, admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm on Kamal Mohammed on August 9.
The court heard Mr Mohammed allegedly touched a woman sexually as he walked across the dance floor at the Amishi Bar, Cleethorpes.
He apologised and claimed it was an accident but, as he was leaving, he was confronted by the woman who accused him again of sexually touching her.
During the confrontation, Wilkins punched him once in the face, fracturing his jaw in two places. He later needed surgery.
Wilkins later told police the woman claimed Mr Mohammed twice grabbed her sexually in the groin area.
She was "hysterical" and was sobbing on a friend's shoulder. When the woman pointed out Mr Mohammed to her, Wilkins became very angry, "saw red" and "lost it" because she was so upset.
Gordon Holt, mitigating, said the woman was shocked by the alleged sex assaults and became upset. Wilkins found her crying and very distressed and she told him what had happened.
"The man came out of the nightclub and Wilkins stepped forward and threw a punch at him, hitting him in the jaw," said Mr Holt.
"That was the end of the assault. He made full and frank admissions.
"He was very seriously provoked by the situation."
Wilkins had no previous convictions.
The magistrates branded the attack a "vicious assault" but said Wilkins had been provoked by what happened to the woman.
Wilkins was given 200 hours' unpaid work and was ordered to pay £400 compensation and £85 costs.
Daniel Wilkins said he was provoked by an alleged sex assault on a woman.
