Smart cooks wise up to joys of good food

Students from 11 schools in the region gathered at Hereford School, Westward Ho, Grimsby, for the launch of Let's Get Cooking.
Lisette Baker, scheme coordinator for Yorkshire and Humberside, said: "We want to get families and the community cooking, and to get them to use the skills they learn at home.
"We are setting up 5,000 regular community cookery schools nationwide to teach people how to make healthy meals."
Students at the launch event were taught how to make fruit smoothies, pizza, salad and fruit crumble.
Georgie Lepley (10), from Middlethorpe Primary School, Cleethorpes, said: "Our school is setting up a cooking club and some of us came to try it out.
"It's been really good and I'll help out cooking at home more now."
Georgie's teacher Lesley Mercer added: "We are setting up a cookery club next term because want to get the children interested in food, trying new and healthy foods and learning about cookery techniques and safety."
