Leg wax for Edward fund

Monday, February 08, 2010, 06:30

THERE were some hairy moments during a charity fundraiser for teenage cancer patient Edward Holt.

Staff and customers at the Tesco superstore, at Hewitt's Circus, Cleethorpes, held a marathon leg wax to raise money for 17-year-old Edward, from Waltham.

As reported, the keen tennis player lost part of his leg when he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer, in September last year.

His friends at Tesco, where he works, hope to raise the £3,000 needed to get Edward a new prosthetic leg so he could continue to play sport.

And he was on hand to witness male colleagues have their legs waxed and watch customers pedal away on exercise bikes.

There was also a raffle, with the top prize of a guitar signed by Girls Aloud.

Edward said: "I'm overwhelmed by how many people agreed to take part to help and I am so grateful to all of them.

"I cannot thank them enough and to be able to play tennis again really would be a dream come true.

"Tesco has been fantastic too as they have kept my job for me, despite me not being there and I have a lot of friends here."
