Sophie Powles is starring in new musical drama Britannia High on ITV 1 this Sunday.
Sophie (20), from Humberston said: "I play a dinner lady in the show. When I tell people I'm playing a dinner lady they say I'm a little too young!
"I went up against hundreds of people, and got down to the final 40, then the last three.
"When they called me back the next day they said they had created a role just for me, which is why my character's from Grimsby!
"They thought I was a little crazy and kooky and they liked that."

Sophie has landed a role in the new musical drama.
The show is the brain child of the Manchester drama team responsible for Coronation Street, Blue Murder and Mobile.
It will include music composed by some of the biggest names in pop – including Gary Barlow, Guy Chambers, Steve Mac, Mark Owen and Eliot Kennedy.
There will also be a few familiar faces putting in an appearance, including pop icons Girls Aloud and Boyzone.
Sophie added: "Ronnie, my character, loves showbusiness, and all she wants is to be a big star.
"That's what brings her to Britannia High."
And, although her character plays a much more central role later on, it seems Ronnie has some hard work to do, to become friends with the students.
She said: "She tries to be one of the gang – she's always there if anyone needs her."

The cast of the new TV show.
For Sophie too, getting this far wasn't easy.
The former Humberston School pupil had fought and lost audition after audition over the years.
She has worked with numerous dance schools and groups, including Class Act.
She said: "I got so much support from my friends and family – my mum and dad are brilliant and by brother Ellis (17) has been great."
You may recognise her from her roles in other hit shows, including Dalziel and Pascoe and Holby City before, but this is the biggest role so far.
She said: "It's a fun, fresh and something new.
"It's not just light and fluffy, but deals with real characters as they struggle to make their name in the industry.
It's showtime at 6.15pm on ITV 1 on Sunday.
Those who can't get enough of the show can get their hands on a new album, due to be released on November 17.
