SHE'S back!

The Miss Grimsby Telegraph Competition has returned by popular demand and the search is now on for one special lady to take this year's title – and the crown.

After more than 10 years, we have decided to bring back this iconic tradition and see a return to the days when one local beauty's name was on the tip of everyone's tongue.

Representing the whole of North East Lincolnshire, Miss Grimsby Telegraph will become a figurehead for the Telegraph, putting her name to advertising campaigns, being the guest of honour at special events and making public appearances for the next 12 months.

Not only that, but the one lucky lady will receive an amazing set of prizes – including the use of a brand new car from Stoneacre for the year.

Our spotters were out in Cleethorpes at the weekend looking for that one special woman who will become the face of the Grimsby Telegraph for 2009 and now is your chance to join the race.

Brush off your ballgown and strap on your high heels – we want YOU to send in your applications from Monday.

You don't have to be a supermodel to apply, there is no age limit, and plus size applicants are welcome.

However, a bubbly personality is a must – as the winner will be required to represent the Grimsby Telegraph throughout the year.

And this time we have joined up with Miss England so not only will you be in with a chance of representing your favourite community newspaper, but those who fit the criteria may get to represent their country as well.

Beauty pageant veteran Jade Clay (19), of Humberston's Grimsby Road, cannot wait to send in her application.

Jade, who is studying a foundation course in Art and Design at the Grimsby Institute, was runner up in last year's Miss Grimsby competition and won the Miss Photographic 2008 section award.

But this year, she has her eyes on the hallowed tiara.

She said: "I'm so pleased the competition is coming back as I think it will be a great opportunity for girls in the region to see how much fun it can really be.

"It is brilliant for the town and it will be a fantastic opportunity for me as it ties in wonderfully with the Miss England competition."

The race is on and Jade is ready for the battle of the beauties to commence. Are YOU?
