No time like the present to make a wish

SMILE... and make a wish!

While Christmas may still be more than eight weeks away, there is no time like the present to turn our thoughts to the festive season.

And today marks the launch of Christmas Wishes – a unique way for the children of North East Lincolnshire to record what they really want from Santa.

The photographic competition is open for youngsters up to 10 years old.

All they have to do is have their photograph taken by our photographer and submit their Christmas wish.

When all the wishes have been collected, every reader will have the chance to vote on their favourite wishes – and the top three will win a share of £1,500.

A Grimsby Telegraph photographer will be in Freshney Place Shopping Centre – which is sponsoring the competition – during half-term from Monday, October 27 to Saturday, November 1.

Sessions will be held between 9.30am and 5pm daily, with breaks between noon and 1pm, so look out for entry forms in your Grimsby Telegraph to take part. There is one on page 12 today.

Jenny Braithwaite, marketing and promotions executive with the Telegraph, said all entrants must be under the age of 10 on October 27.

"Let's make this the greatest Christmas yet!" she said.

"What better way of bumping up your festive spending cash pot than through entering Christmas Wishes? Not only do you have the chance of winning a share of £1,500, your child gets a picture taken, which are available to buy cheaply and make great presents.

"All entrants will appear in a special Christmas Wishes supplement in the newspaper on Tuesday, November 25, when readers have the opportunity to vote for their favourite wishes. Entrants are not put into age categories.

"The top three winning wishes are certainly in for a Christmas to remember!"
