WHAT facilities do you look for in a public loo?

That is the question being posed today following the official opening of the public toilets at Cleethorpes Boating Lake, which have been given a £180,000 revamp.

The new facilities now boast sparkling toilets, showers, baby changing facilities, hot and cold running water, high-power hand dryers, and body lifts to provide easy access for disabled visitors.

The new toilets, which will be open to the public from 8am to 6pm in the winter and to 8pm in the summer, represent part of a £1-million investment by North East Lincolnshire Council.

Similar projects are being planned at other popular tourist areas throughout the region.

Cllr Stephen Hocknell, whose wife is disabled, said: "This is certainly something which is very close to my heart, the equipment here is top of the range and it makes using these facilities a lot easier for disabled people."
