£1.2m teaching block at Franklin College makes 'perfect learning resource'
A £1.2 MILLION classroom block has been completed just in time for 900 new students.
The ten state-of-the-art rooms at Franklin College are the latest addition to the campus in Chelmsford Avenue, Grimsby.

And the new facilities have an environmental edge, featuring technology such as air source heat pumps, under floor heating and super insulated roofing – all reducing the building's carbon footprint.
Steve Matthews, director of property and services, said: "We wanted to create a learning space that is eco-friendly.

"We have managed to do this and we have the very best here.
"Each of the ten classrooms can hold 24 students comfortably, and the rooms are very flexible to the needs of the teaching staff.
"What we have also tried to achieve is a bright crisp space that is perfect for learning.
"The building is very eco-friendly with air source heat pumps heating the rooms.
"There is also a carbon dioxide detector in each classroom, which would bring in fresh air if levels got too high.
"The roof is also super insulated with alpine plants purposely planted in the roof.
"This new building is not the end of the project. In October a new entrance building will be constructed at the front of the campus which will accommodate all student services."
Work on the new complex began in November and will now be home to health and social care, business and economics. It also has a dedicated computer room.
Principal Trevor Wray said: "We have 900 new students, plus 600 returning ones, at the college now.
"The space and the facility was greatly needed. The build project has been paid for through government grants and a little of our own money.
"We have spent £5 million in the past three years. Everything we have created is to help student learning. There is a clear link between the environment students learn in, and their progress. With this in mind the new building will be the perfect learning resource.
"We have been waiting for about ten years to get this kind of investment and we are now moving in the right directions for the future."
