LOVE was in the air at the final heat of our Pub Idol 2008 contest.

Two of the last three final places up for grabs during heat nine at Lucarly's nightclub last night, went to boyfriend and girlfriend Mark Stoneman and Amy Greetham.

The pair, who bagged the coveted spots in the final 12 as wild cards, are now jetting off to Paris for a romantic break.

However, Mark (23) of Waltham was unaware of his final place as they set off on holiday together today.

Amy (20), a barmaid at The King's Head, Waltham and stage one drama teacher, will replace previous finalist Sureina Dais, who won Heat Seven, but has had to return to her native Philippines to be with her sick mother

  • Sarah Lowe’s renditions of Lady Marmalade and I Will Always Love You won her a spot in the final.

She said: "I was really pleased to get through and I am looking forward to the final.

"I am really looking forward to seeing the Eiffel Tower and going to The Moulin Rouge."

She performed outstanding songs, the first the Eva Cassidy classic At Last and I Just Want To Make Love To You by Etta James.

The last place in our final line up went to stunning 19-year-old Sarah Lowe.

The Clifton School of Dance teacher said: "It is brilliant. I am ecstatic. They were really good contestants tonight.

  • Heat Nine contestants (from left) Francesca Hodge, John Hampshire, Sarah Lowe, Dean Walker, Amy Greetham, Jamie Hunter and Amy Wrightham.

She added her ambition is to perform on a West End stage and combine her singing and dancing talents.

The Grimsby Institute second year dance degree student said: "I just want people to know my name, like Leona Lewis."

She was superb with her sexy performance of Lady Marmalade and I Will Always Love You.

At the end of the nine heats, judge Pete Dixey said: "Overall the performances have been improved each week.

"The standard has been more difficult to judge each time. Most of the weeks have been difficult decisions. This was the toughest. It should be a very interesting final.

Tickets for The Grimsby Telegraph Pub Idol final at The Submarine, Sea Road, Cleethorpes on Wednesday cost £5.
